The Eight National Convention 2017

The eight National Convention of SANCALP is being held from 18th to 20th February 2017 at IBRAD campus, Kolkata. This is a joint initiative between IBRAD, the state departments and the community volunteers.

The participating states in the Eight National Convention were Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand,Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Meghalaya, Tripura and West Bengal.

A total number of 92 participants shared their experiences. Every participant had one common thing to share; they come here out of their passion for their work, they have treated the forest as their mother or their child; without the contribution of women this mission can never move forward. Everybody’s viewpointabout facing challenges while carrying forward the conservation of nature has been a difficult journey, but still they are all obsessed with their mission.

The theme of this year's SANCALP was Participatory Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Livelihood and Ecosystem Services.
