Training & workshop

A one week residential training was organized for the Indian Forest Service Officers on "Development of Formal and Informal Networks for Effective Conservation of Natural Resource" from 23rd to 27th November 2015. 14numbers of officials from the states of Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Manipur, Nagaland, Odisha, Telengana, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal participated in the workshop.


A training workshop on "Forestland and Other related Rights of Tribals- Adequacy of Provision of FRA" was organized by IBRAD sponsored by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Changefor the Indian Forest Service Officials from 7th to 8th January 2016 at IBRAD campus, Kolkata. 12officials from the states of Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal participated in the workshop.


A state level orientation Training on “Rainfed Area Development (RAD)” under National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA) wasorganisedby the joint director of Agriculture (Soil Conservation), West Bengal, Department of Agriculture, Government of West Bengal in cooperation with IBRAD on 4th February 2016 at IBRAD Campus.

A state level training on Preparation of District Irrigation Plan (DIP) under PradhanMantriKrishiSinchayeeYojana(PMKSY) at IBRAD Campus from 8th -9th February 2016 was organized by Department of Agriculture, Government of West Bengal.

The seventh National Convention of SANCALP (Sustainable Action and Network through Community Leaders’ Program) was held at IBRAD campus from 19th to 21st February 2016. More than 100 Participants from eleven states namely Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Odisha, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal have participated in the Convention.

A State Level Training on “Medicinal plants conservation: strategy, opportunities and challenges” was jointly organized byIBRAD supported by Medicinal Plant Board from 23rd to 25th February 2016. 50 participants were present in the training.

A national workshop on “Participatory Natural Resource Management and Integrated Tribal Development in the context of climate change” was organised by IBRAD in collaboration with Anthropological Survey of India from 29th - 30thMarch 2016 at IBRAD campus. Total 82participants were present from the states of West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha.

Two trainings on Wetland Issues were held for the field staff of Sundarban Bio Sphere Reserve at BandhuMahal Club, Canning, 24-Pargana (South). The first batch of training was held on 4th and 5th March 2016 for the Beat Officers and Forest Guard and the second batch of training was held for the Range Officers on 6th and 7th March 2016. Total 60 participants were present in these trainings.

On the occasion of the 32nd Foundation Day, A National Workshop on “Participatory Biodiversity Conservation for improved Ecosystem Services in the context of Climate Change” was organized by IBRAD in association with West Bengal Forest Department on 9th and 10th May 2016 at IBRAD Campus, Kolkata. More than 60 participants were present in the workshop. Senior Forest Officials from West Bengal and Chattisgarh Forest Department, Officials from Meghalaya and West Bengal Biodiversity Board, eminent scientists from Zoological Survey of India, Botanical Survey of India, Anthropological Survey of India, representatives from NGOs, researchers and academics from Universities have participated in the workshop.
