Livelihood in rainfed areas: Capacity building for Effective implementation of FRA

Client : National Rainfed Area Authority  

The major objectives of the training programs were:

  • To orient the district level officials of different line departments like agriculture , horticulture, forest, fisheries ,animal husbandry, rural development etc participant on FRA , It’s goal, process and approaches.
  • To share experience on the livelihood related to problems and challenges from the rainfed areas in the different parts of country where FRA I implemented.
  • To equip them with the skill and tools of working and planning in participatory manner for Sustainable Livelihood Development especially in Rainfed Areas.
  • To share case studies from different department of the country that would help in developing an understanding to identify appropriate strategies for Sustainable Livelihood in areas allotted to the people under FRA.

Two four days training program was conducted during 12th to 15th July and 23rd to 26th August, 2011 with 20 and 25 participants respectively. Participants from different states like Bihar, Jharkhand, Chattisgarh, Karnataka, Tripura, Assam, Orissa and West Bengal from departments like Agriculture, Horticulture, Water Resources Development, Forest, Panchayat and Rural Development, Livelihood Promotion Society, Animal Resource Development etc have participated in the training.
