National Rural Livelihood Mission ( NRLM) has been designed to alleviate poverty in a mission mode. The stated Mission of NRLM is to reduce poverty through building strong grassroots institutions of the poor. These institutions enable the poor households to access gainful self employment and skilled wage employment opportunities, resulting in appreciable increase in their incomes, on a sustainable basis. The programme envisaged to universal coverage of all rural poor and promotion of SHG federation from village level to national level. Social mobilization to ensure universal coverage and building strong institutions of poor are the essential pre requisite to achieve the desired goal of the programme.


  • To equip the participants with the skills to mobilize the group for livelihood planning.
  • To build specialized livelihood institutions such as livelihood collectives.
  • To develop the skills to implement the livelihood plan.
  • To identify the backward and forward linkages.
