Study area: Forest Division of Mysore (T), Chamraja Nagar Wildlife, Kollegal Divisions, Hunsur, Bangalore Urban, Madekeri (T), Mangalore, Virajpet, Kundapur, Karnataka.

On going activities:

  • Microplan preparation
  • SICO Formation
  • Formation of VFCs and its registration under Forest Act
  • Assessment of Forest Resources
  • Capacity building for Income Generation activities for poverty alleviation
  • Follow up of ongoing VFC activities
  • Developing indicators for participatory vegetation monitoring
  • Formation & strengthening of SHGs/ CBOs
  • Capacity building, implementation and facilitation in decision making both at the level of Forest Department and community. 

In the year 2009-10, 58 Village Forest Committees and 153 SHGs were formed. Microplans were prepared for 248 VFCs and more than 100 in-situ trainings are conducted for the VFC members.
