IBRAD the lead NGO  support implementation of SFM activities, provide managerial, professional and technical assistance VFCs in six districts, assist Forest Department in preparation and implementation of management plan for sustainable utilization and conservation of natural, capital and preparation of microplans based on the five capitals – natural, social, human, physical and financial, build capacity of VFC by involving the PRI

Study area: Forest Division of Mysore (T), Chamraja Nagar Wildlife, Kollegal Divisions, Hunsur, Bangalore Urban, Madekeri (T), Mangalore, Virajpet, Kundapur, Karnataka.

On going activities:

• Microplan preparation
• SICO Formation
• Formation of VFCs and its registration under Forest Act
• Assessment of Forest Resources
• Capacity building for Income Generation activities for poverty alleviation
• Follow up of ongoing VFC activities
• Developing indicators for participatory vegetation monitoring
• Formation & strengthening of SHGs/ CBOs
• Capacity building, implementation and facilitation in decision making both at the level of Forest Department and community. 

In the year 2009-10, 58 Village Forest Committees and 153 SHGs were formed. Microplans were prepared for 248 VFCs and more than 100 in-situ trainings are conducted for the VFC members.
